I think there should be more variety available when creating a game. I know that people would create some absurd games in the old system, but the options available now are extremely limiting, and do not allow for much variation from the system available games, therefore diminishing the value of being able to create them.

We agree that variety is essential, however the old system caused some confusion for players.
Often they would create games that would not be configured as they desired because they skipped a setting, etc. This would often come up during tournament games, in which exact options are vital.
So what we have done is move the variability to the scenario level. Creating a game, as you observed, is now a simple one or two option decision.
In scenario creation is where all the tweaking and turning can be done. In fact there are now more options available for scenarios than the old system, and even more to be released when the basics have stabilized. The current combination of games and scenarios already allows for more variations then the old system did.
Our hope is that this will result in a richer and much more manageable system for players.. We will also be adding popular and favorite scenario lists to make it even more accessible.
I figured it out now, but I would recommend the ability to change the name when creating a scenario.
