Digipup is my fiance's screen name. I mentioned I've been showing her how to play in the OP.

I'm trying to get her some opponents to play who aren't me.

Okay, turns out you have to be a paying member now to make a game, so I and my fiance (digipup) will just join some of the standard games and try to make our turns each day.

Thanks! Looking forward to it!

I don't have the kind of time I used to to play this, but if I set the turns for 1 week each, I should be able to make moves every couple days. (Same for the fiance, though she has a bit more time than I).

Been showing the fiance how to play and wanted to see who all's still here.

Anybody up for a game?

Just stopped in to introduce the fiance to the game, and wow has the GUI changed. I miss the old drag and stack system.

Further issues with the private message system. It is currently year 2005 and I cannot view any messages after 2002.

couple issues I have noticed.

  1. I receive at least two copies of every private message sent to me, possibly more.
  2. The usual indicator (green box around the flag of the people currently online) does not show for other players even when they are commenting in the open chat on the game.
  3. I cannot verify but I believe several of the private messages I received in game disappeared, and I could not find them the next time I logged in.

Will add further notes if I notice anything else.

I've looked in a couple times so I was aware that the change had been made, but I've not had a chance to playtest with the new rules to see how it effects combat

Excellent post McCartheigh. You summed it up very well, and a lot of it applies to truces/NAPs as well.
I would just like to add that while we have this and the "Official" standard truce rules posted, players are completely free to make whatever agreements in their games that they see fit. These guidelines and the standard truce rules are just there to help you make good agreements and make the game more enjoyable.

Question(s): I see you've restarted all the rankings on the beta, as well as including a separate thing for "experience." What is experience and what does it go for? Is it just for versing the computer or is it for all games? Have you made any other changes to the ranking system? Where can we view the new leaderboards?

Sorry to steal your thunder mat. We still need some guidelines for alliances if you want to write those up .

Well I notice we finally got the destroyer price down to $25 and that carriers can now carry 4 fighters instead of 2 (we may want to reconfigure the startup for Hex armada accordingly).

There's now a new beta but version of the site, but it appears that the game still runs on the same engine as before. What is this new "experience" thing I'm seeing?

Hey guys, peavybob's back with a shiny new gamertag. I got stuck with peavybob last time since I thought it was my login username rather than my permanent handle so I fixed it this time.

Did I miss anything good?

To propose amendments to the Standard rules, open a new thread in the Naps and Treaties forum to describe the proposed rule change and open it to debate. Votes will be taken afterwards.

Laws of the land air and sea as laid down by the great lord Peavybob in ancient times.
Carried over from the old forum: http://www.battleforces.com/node/734

Note this only applies to truces and NAPs. Alliances require a separate thread.
Truces and NAPs do not have to be identical to the rules shown herein, however all Truces and NAPs shall be assumed to follow the standard rules unless specified otherwise in their agreement. (i.e. truces shall be 3 turn notice unless the agreement you make specifically states otherwise)

Rules:

  1. No attacking a partner while truced

  2. Three (3) Turn Notice, based on the year as it appears during the command input phase. (also known as Bromley Years-See Bromley Versus Peavybob Year Counting http://www.battleforces.com/node/490)

  3. Attacking involves moving forces into a territory or sea zone controlled by another player (attacking a zone that they are also attacking is techically not a violation but is rather rude.)

  4. A sea zone is controlled/owned by a player if they have naval forces in that zone at the beginning of the turn. moving into that zone is considered attacking even if no combat occurs. (See Kdlover Versus Peavybob Sub Blocking) 2 navies running into each other (both moving) is considered a no-fault accident (even if it was planned)

  5. Sea zones bordering factories and capitals currently still fall under #4. blockading an allies sea zone is generally grounds for serving notice though.

  6. Truces apply the same to both parties (unless specifically stated otherwise. must be beyond shadow of doubt) (See Kdlover Versus Anonymous Equal Application of Truce Terms)

  7. Breach of truce against you absolves you of your agreement so you need not wait 3 turns to attack the trucebreaker.

  8. If your truce partner deadbeats or goes on autoplay/dormant withoutexplanation. Your agreement is neutralized until his return, at which point its generally a good idea to return his territories. If your truce expires during his absence, then you have every right to keep his territories and/or eliminate him.
