Inquire about the ways in which a bishop's disciplinary council aids the Church and assists the offender in confessing their sins and reentering the Church. After reading 1 Corinthians 5, write about the parallels you see between the scriptures and the explanations you received from your bishop.
Note the Effects of Sin
Paul rebukes the Corinthian saints for trying to justify their sins. He reminds them that the Spirit cannot dwell in them if they are not righteous. When you read 1 Corinthians 6:9–20, write down at least five sins Paul mentions and explain why those sins affect the sinner, as well as the sinner's family and the Church.
Summarize What Paul Teaches
As you read 1 Corinthians 7:10–11, replace the words “separate” with “divorce” (“do not forsake” also means “do not divorce”), and in verses 12–13, replace the words “not a believer” with “not a member.” After reading these verses and replacing the indicated words, write a paragraph describing what you think Paul teaches.
Write a Lesson
Answer the following questions after reading 1 Corinthians 7:8–9, 29–35 as though Paul were addressing missionaries (noting the modifications made in verses 29–33 by Joseph Smith's translation):
Why are these teachings helpful for full-time missionaries?
Why might a girlfriend or boyfriend staying home distract a missionary from their calling?
